Jill Carter named women's golf coach

Owensboro native to lead Panther program

     Jill Carter, a former assistant golf coach at Campbellsville University, has been appointed the new women's coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College, according to Director of Athletics Gary Gallup.
    "Jill is an outstanding golfer herself and has tremendous passion and enthusiasm for the game," said Gallup. "Her experience at Campbellsville as a player and assistant coach has prepared her to take the next step. 
    "As an Apollo graduate, her ties with the Owensboro community will be valuable in generating support for our women’s golf program.  We look forward to having Jill as a member of our Panther athletic staff." 
    Carter, a native of Owensboro (Apollo HS), came from her alma mater Campbellsville where she served on the Tigers' women's golf staff during the 2008-09 season under head coach Lindsay Hines.
    She also served as the assistant swimming coach at CU.
    "I am privileged to be able to serve as a coach and role model to young women, especially in my hometown of Owensboro," says Carter.
    "KWC women’s golf needs to be taken to the next level. I believe with my experience as a college player and coach at Campbellsville, I will be able to contribute to reaching this goal.”
    Carter was a four-year letterwinner and two-time co-captain for the Lady Tigers golf  squad which was ranked in the NAIA Top 25 during her last three seasons.
    Her accolades also included earning All-Mid-South Conference honors twice and collected all-tournament recognition three times.
    She also received the coveted NAIA's Champion of Character Award for her accomplishments on the links and in the classroom for two seasons. 
    Her academic accolades also including earning Academic All-Mid-South Conference recognition all four years. She also lettered on the swim team.
    Carter graduated cum laude from Campbellsville in 2008 with a degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish. She is currently working on her masters in Theology from Campbellsville.
    The 2004 graduate of Apollo will continue to served as KWC's Campus Ministry Assistant.
