Kentucky Wesleyan guard
Desmond Stephens received first-team recognition on the 2010 Daktronics All-Midwest Region as selected by sports information directors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Wednesday.
Stephens, a 5-8, 145-pound, senior guard from Bloomington, Ind. (South HS), ranks sixth in NCAA assists (6.5 apg) and leads the Panthers in scoring (17.9 ppg), steals (2.3) and leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference in assists and steals.
He was named to the GLVC first team and the GLVC All-Tournament Team last week.
The No. 5 ranked and No. 1 seed Panthers (29-4) will play No. 8 seed and fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference member Saint Joseph's (17-11) in the NCAA Midwest Regional at the Owensboro Sportscenter on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.
