James Jackson, a part-time assistant men's basketball coach for Kentucky Wesleyan College for the past season, has been promoted to the top assistant's position, according to Panther head coach Todd Lee.
During his first season at KWC, the Panthers under 2010 Midwest Region Coach of the Year Todd Lee, compiled a remarkable 29-5 record, which stands for the eighth most wins in school history, and a record breaking 36th trip to the NCAA tournament.
KWC also finished with a GLVC best record 16-2 to win the regular season title, with their highest weekly ranking at No.3 since 2003 and finished No. 5 in the final NABC Top 25 poll.
Jackson, a native of Lincoln County, Ky., came to KWC last August from the University of Louisville where he was a member of Rick Pitino's staff for the two seasons.
Prior to Louisville, Jackson spent one season as a student assistant at Berea College and two seasons as an assistant at Lincoln County High School. He graduated from Berea in 2007 with a political science degree.
His father Jeff , a head boys coach at Lincoln County High School in Stanford, was inducted into the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC) Court of Honor this past March in Lexington at the state "Sweet Sixteen" tournament.
Jackson replaces Rafael Franco, who returned to his native country San Palo, Brazil to become a head coach.
