Ashlee Winstead threw a complete game and collected 11 strikeouts but it was not enough as visiting Northern Kentucky slipped past Kentucky Wesleyan 1-0 in the first game on Saturday.
The Norse scored in the top of the third to hold on as they limited the Panthers to two hits.
In the second contest,
Angie Camp hit a single to knock in
Meagan Sallee for the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth as they won 2-1.
The Panthers scored their first run on a Camp grounder in the second. NKU came back in the sixth to even the score 1-1.
Jordan Vertz captured the win with six and 2/3 innings, four strikeouts and limiting the Norse to three hits. Winstead closed the game with her 12th strikeout of the day to earn the save.
KWC hosts Bellarmine on Sunday at noon.
