Northern Kentucky swept host Kentucky Wesleyan by winning 5-3 and 4-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
In the opening contest, the Norse scored three in the first and the Panthers responded with two in the bottom inning.
Randy Villa hit a RBI single scoring
Jon Wandling and
Nathan Hedgepath knocked in Villa on a fielder's choice in the first.
NKU scored one in the second and one in the fifth for their fourth and fifth run before Villa hit a triple scoring
Josh Vance for the Panthers third and final run.
Vance, Villa and
Jordan White each produced two hits
Tim Steed (4-3) took the loss with five innings pitched, five earned runs and two strikeouts.
Tyler Emberton and
Colton Slank also pitched in relief. Slank also had two strikeouts.
In the final game, KWC could only post five hits in 31 plate appearance with White producing two as the Panthers were shutout.
The Norse score one in the fourth and three in the eighth.
Drew Watts (2-3) threw 7.1 innings with five strikeouts in the loss.
Noah Boswell closed the final 1.2 innings.
The Panthers (13-15, 7-9 GLVC) will host Lincoln Memorial in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Panther Park.
