The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened the season at the Gerry England Open on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Freshman
Andrew Vincent set a school record in the shot put with a throw of 12.10 meters to take 14th place.
Freshman
Bryant Qualls finished the mile in 4:59.12 to finish eighth overall.
Freshman
Demetrius Frazier tied for 10
th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.40. Junior
Diego Ortiz finished 18th in the event with a 7.73.
Frazier also competed in the 400 meter dash completing the race in 58.04 to take 15th. Freshman
Griffin Kelley was 18th overall with a 59.14.
In the 800 meter run Qualls was 12th (2:10.07), Kelley was 17th (2:33.19) and sophomore
Billy Busby was 18th (2:35.87).
During the 200 Frazier finished 14th with a 24.99 and Ortiz was 15th following a time of 25.11.
Sophomore
Seth Burnette competed in the 3000 and finished 26th with a 10:25.08.
On the women's side freshman
Casey Price completed the one mile in a time of 6:47.32 to take ninth place in the event. She also took part in the 800 and finished in 3:02.39 to take 16th.
Both the men's and women's indoor track & field teams will next compete in the Winston-Salem State Open on Sunday, January 19.
