Box Score Justin Williams rushed for 192 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns as host Kentucky State defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 41-21 in the college football season-opener for both teams on Thursday night at Alumni Stadium in Frankfort.
KSU jumped to a 10-0 lead, but the Panthers pulled within 10-7 by the end of the stanza when quarterback
Dalton Oliver hooked up with
Nick O'Brien for a 4-yard touchdown pass.
The Thorobreds extended their halftime edge to 20-7.
Kentucky State took total control early in the third period.
Oliver threw a pair of second-half TD aerials — a 4-yarder to
Keelan Cole and a 60-yarder to
Xavier Mitchell, but it was not enough.
Oliver was 23-of-46 through the air for 284 yards and three scores. Cole finished with nine receptions for 114 yards and Mitchell made four catches for 101 yards.
