Dalton Oliver threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns as Kentucky Wesleyan fell to host Limestone 39-34 in Gaffey, S.C. on Saturday afternoon.
 
Xavier Mitchell caught a 27-yard pass from Oliver in the first quarter and Cole Woodburn kicked the extra point for the 7-0 lead at the 8:54 mark.
 
Limestone's Logan Ard then connected on a 24-yard field goal to cut the advantage with 4:07 in the first. In the second, Ga'Quan Maize score on a 44-yard touchdown run as the Saints grabbed their first lead at 11-7.
 
Keelan Cole answered with a 24-yard touchdown reception from Oliver and Woodburn added the extra point to go ahead at 14-11 with 10:20 in the second.
 
The Saints (1-0) came back with a 13-yard and a 20-yard touchdown passes from Jonathan Clark as they went in at halftime ahead 25-14. They opened the third quarter early on a five-yard run by Bo Whitney to make it 32-14.
 
David White's four-yard run and Woodburn kick with 4:48 in the third brought the Panthers closer at 32-21. Vasco Billberry followed less than a minute later with a 37-yard interception to cut the advantage to 32-27.
 
In the fourth, Maize scored on a five-yard run to push the Saints out to 39-27. The Panthers came back to close the gap after Rameen Lindsey's one-yard run and Woodburn kick with 4:37 remaining to cut the lead to five at 39-34.
 
Oliver completed 28 of 43 passes with one interception. Mitchell and Cole both caught seven passes. Mitchell recorded 98 receiving yards and Cole had 91. Travion Tucker caught five passes for 41 yards.
 
Limestone had 401 total offensive yards including 226 rushing and 175 passing. Kentucky Wesleyan produced 342 yards with 315 passing and 27 rushing.
 
The Panthers (0-2) plays at No. 16 Delta State in Cleveland, Miss., next Saturday night at 6 p.m. CT.
